Each sweep of the tool breathes life into the wood.

Slowly, the creek willow is woven over the larger willow warp. Tightly pulled & cajoled, the willow will must be flexible but not able to shrink too much. There is a narrow window of the year during which the willow is in the right state for weaving.

With the final coat of oil going on, the chair shows its true colors.

The end product is a show-stopper! Natural tones of the woods generate a glow.

The final piece transforms an everyday staple, "the chair", and turns it into sculpture with a function. SOLD.

Native Montana Fir forms the stick skeleton of the chair.
Creek-harvested willow splines form the back & chair seat. Larger willow pieces are steamed and bent into place for strength--no glue.
